Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our client's team, focusing on estimating structural steel components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel fabrication and erection processes, with experience in the construction industry. This role involves both computer-aided and manual take-off estimates, requiring a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform take-offs for various structural steel components and ensure all standard and special requirements are captured.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents to generate accurate estimates.
  • Review vendor and sub-tier quotes for scope compliance and cost accuracy.
  • Produce estimate summaries and identify buy-out items or special requirements.
  • Assist in training new Estimators in Training (EITs) and provide guidance as needed.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required

  • Strong understanding of the means and methods of steel fabrication and erection processes.
  • Experience reviewing contract drawings and specifications related to structural steel.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education / Professional Experience

  • At least five (5) years' experience in the structural steel industry in a similar role.
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred but not necessary.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Certification in construction estimating or related field is a plus.
