Compensation

  • $135,600 - $152,550 / per year
  • Plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.

Job Summary

The Technical Associate will play a crucial role in the development and commercialization of new adhesive products. Reporting to the Technology Senior Director, the successful candidate will conceive, design, and test new adhesive products, ensuring their successful transfer to production and commercialization. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and requires a strong problem-solving ability to enhance product performance and reduce manufacturing costs.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conceive, design, and test new adhesive or coating products.
  • Conduct trials to ensure successful product transfer to production and commercialization.
  • Assist sales and business development in identifying prospects and conducting technical discovery.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other tools to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
  • Support supply chain management in identifying and qualifying vendors.
  • Keep abreast of novel technologies in the adhesive industry and assess their feasibility.
  • Lead or support quality assurance in identifying root causes of quality issues and implementing control changes.
  • Maintain accurate records on intellectual properties and pursue patent applications or trade secrets.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required

  • Ability to aggressively attack complex problems and identify feasible or optimal solutions.
  • Creativity and innovation to achieve technical and business objectives.
  • Ability to lead or participate in multiple cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to conduct bench or trial work with minimal supervision.

Education / Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in formulating water-based adhesives.
  • Knowledge in paperboard and food-grade packaging is desirable.
