Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Operations to provide leadership and strategic direction for all manufacturing areas within our client's organization.

The Director of Operations oversees all aspects of manufacturing, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality through standardized processes and lean manufacturing. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement, cost reduction, and maintaining world-class manufacturing standards that align with broader business goals. The Director collaborates with various corporate and operational leaders, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with safety and regulatory requirements while promoting a culture of lean thinking and problem-solving.

In addition to managing production activities and workflow, the Director is responsible for financial oversight, including budgeting, resource planning, and cost-saving initiatives. They also play a key role in workforce development, ensuring that the team is trained in methods that maximize efficiency and meet safety and quality standards. This position requires a strong focus on compliance with industry regulations and continuous improvement, while also supporting the company's long-term operational and strategic goals.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead all manufacturing activities to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Drive the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee and enforce company policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance related to manufacturing operations.
  • Plan and coordinate production workflows to meet sales forecasts and inventory requirements.
  • Monitor departmental performance and evaluate results to meet organizational objectives.
  • Promote cost reduction opportunities and enhance workplace safety.
  • Implement and uphold world-class manufacturing standards and goals.
  • Manage new product launches and determine the incorporation of new technologies into manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing and business plans.
  • Collaborate with other divisions and functions to ensure clear communication and alignment on operational needs.
  • Oversee the certification of Quality and Environmental programs (IATF, ISO standards).
  • Establish, monitor, and adjust the annual budget and labor plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide leadership in succession planning, training, and development of the manufacturing workforce.
  • Develop and implement solutions to address potential business interruptions and continuity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, and lead efforts to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Manage information security as part of normal business operations and ensure compliance with global ISM regulations.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required

  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of operational procedures, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Expertise in managing high-volume, high-mix, high-density PCB manufacturing, specifically within the automotive electronics industry.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, particularly SAP or similar systems.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cash flow management, and ROI analysis.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in leading and developing teams, including succession planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, including new product introduction (NPI) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, both verbal and written, for effective communication in a cross-cultural, international environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and other project management tools.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with key stakeholders.
  • Capability to manage and execute under pressure, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of operational objectives.

Education / Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of leadership and operations experience, specifically in the manufacturing sector.
  • Experience in the automotive electronics manufacturing industry, with a focus on high-volume, high-mix, high-density PCB production.
  • Strong background in SMT (Surface Mount Technology) manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience in managing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Previous experience working in a cross-cultural, international environment is preferred.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (preferred).
  • Certification in Quality Management Systems such as IATF 16949, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001 (preferred).
  • Any relevant certifications related to manufacturing operations or process improvement are an advantage.
